First Time Installers/Upgraders

Please follow the instructions below:

First thing you need to do is make sure you have the ionCube loader loaded into your PHP configuration.

You can do this by going to the AdminCP->Support (upper right corner)->phpinfo under system information in the upper right under the PHP version you are running.

You can then search for "ionCube" and if the "ionCube Loader" shows up, you are good to go.

If you are upgrading your ibProArcade to ipsProArcade, please make sure you backup your arcade_* tables in your database (actually, backing up your entire database is not a bad idea).

After installation, there is one more tool to run (only if you are upgrading). Go the AdminCP->Arcade->Game Tools and "Convert Game Titles to SEO Friendly". Run it once and the upgrade is complete.

That is all there is to do for upgrading.

Next, you will want to go to the AdminCP->System->Applications and click on "Install" in the upper right corner.

Then locate your arcade.tar file and upload it. The installation/upgrade process should not take more than a few minutes, even with thousands of games.

After the installation is done, you will need to take care of a few things, in no particular order:

Go through the Categories and re-assign all of the group permissions, as they have been reset.
Next, you will want to go to the AdminCP->Members->Group setting and go into each one and under the "Arcade" tab, give them their permissions.
The arcade is "Guest" friendly, as they can look around, but can't play.
Next, go to the AdminCP->Arcade->Member Manager and set up your Arcade Moderators.
Finally, go to the AdminCP->Arcade->Main settings and set up the values you'd like, including "Enabling the Arcade".

There seem to be two other things that we lost when updating from ibProArcade to ipsProArcade - firstly all our personal FAVORITES seem to have vanished (the same happened on Ronald's too, and I may have even heard of this happening on another site as well).

And second, I'm fairly sure that before our update I had set RATINGS for almost all our games, but afterward it appeared that I hadn't, and I was/am expected to Rate them all again. (Rating seems to work fine for new games installed since upgrade).

This latter isn't too critical - just annoying - but losing about 550 favorites carefully built up over years, was extremely sad for me anyway! 😞

May I ask, will this process affect anyone in middle of a game at the time. Could their score get screwed up, and if so is it best - or even necessary - to warn users before running upgrade ?

I am on PHP version 7.4 I cant see ioncube in the listing, its the latest PHP

I do not think 7.4 is supported at the moment, quote from their website as of November 29th:

We do not have an ETA for the PHP 7.4 Loader. It is our top priority at the moment.

PHP 7.4 has introduced a large number of internal changes which have lengthened the development time.

You might want to go with 7.3 if you can.

It should not affect anyone playing, but if the upgrade process is running at the exact same time as they are saving a score, I can't ensure it will be unaffected.

I have not heard of any issues, and if there have been some, they weren't reported.
