  • Yes, when the next release comes out.

  • No, here's the current update:   I was able to use the current App, but having to rewrite lots of code (mainly ever link the arcade has, which is a majority of the code).   No one

  • Yes that is correct

Changing the app name is uncharted waters... I shall give it a try though... most work anyone has done on their languages and things like that will be lost.

I wish we could un-install without losing the databases... that might be the ultimate solution though... back up arcade_* tables ... uninstall... install new app with ipsproarcade folder name.

I would've never though having an app named arcade buried in an applications folder would ever cause conflicts.

against my better judgement, I'm trying to rename the app folder... lots of SQL queries to run for people who have it installed, which I'll be glad to do for you.

You mean that in future all of us should have problems? Why do that for those who have any problem or have arcade maybe in subfolders?

Just asking 😀

Renaming the directory to something other than arcade would not just break sites but some games are coded to reference a subfolder under arcade/gamedata for support files.  Arcade is the standard and I am guessing works for 99% of the people as is.

Well, after just an hour or two of work so far, I don't feel comfortable with the App Rename... it's referenced in hundreds of places... and the way IPS is, it's ingrained pretty heavily.

I'm going to change the arcade folder to games on this board and see if we run into issues... if there are games that have been hardcoded to run in /arcade/gamedata, that is just poor.

Thats the way games were coded if they had support files and folders such as sound files or separate swf submit files

Well, after thinking about it... kind of stuck in between a rock and a hard place... changing the directory name doesn't sit well.. changing the app name doesn't sit well.

Changing the app name is going to be complicated for everyone involved, but there aren't that many users, so there's that.

Changing the name of the directory (like it is here) is not a clean solution either, especially if it breaks any games.

The app name change would be a re-write basically, large blocks wouldn't have to be rewritten, but every little extension/piece of code does need to be gone through looking for the magical app key.  Not as simple as a find and replace.. plus the app needs to be created from the ground up.

Uninstalling the current arcade will remove the database entries, unless of course backed up before and restored after.

We are running a special version of the arcade here with the 'arcade' folder renamed to 'games'... we'll see what happens.  I might've missed a game image or 2, if you see anything weird, let us know!

couple of things I have noticed and not sure why the arcade has an effect on them

  • If a user removes their avatar it is replaced with a blank image, not the default avatar.  For those who have not uploaded an avatar now have blank images for their avatars
  • Some small images have vanished, like the emoticons image for the chatbox as an example

Do you have screenshots?  What theme are you using?

Strange, I was using Brave and Red and neither exhibit those issues.  Going to put the arcade back to the way it was and start on a new app I guess.. don't know what the arcade would have to do with either of those things though.

When this board received the members, I went through each member that didn't have a picture and deleted them manually.

Anyway... 🤷‍♂️

Well, so far... an issue I've run into that I forgot about is, naming the "folder/key" ipsproarcade makes all of the database tables with that prefix, like "ipsproarcade_cats" instead of "arcade_cats".

All current users will need to uninstall the current arcade, but before doing that, they will either need to backup arcade_* and/or rename them to ipsproarcade_*

How will this affect games installed I have over 20k and they are 40-50 percent fixed on category, alerts, translated to English descriptions etc..

@tubesock you mean that we need uninstall app arcade and clean our IPS database and after start from zero - install arcade, make categories, install games ...

should we manually clean databases or you can fix some tool (query)?

for now i have no problem with arcade but never say never...

No one will need to uninstall, rename tables, rename directories, nothing.  It should be seamless.

You mean we should just run update like we done before with beta2, 3, 4
