You should not move anything - in new directory you should install IPS 4 - and after new ipsproarcade

Use this new installation as a test install to make sure it all works first, you should be able to output your database and import it into the test site if need be

deleted the htaccess from the server and rewrote the URLs in the acp ..URLs?...to no. now the arcade goes as it should

should be no problem to install ipsproarcade  - nice that you fixed

Where did you make the change in the ACP as others are having the same problem

If activated, friendly URLs do not contain 'index.php'.
To support this, you need to download this file, upload it to the directory of your website and rename it to '.htaccess' (without file name). If a.htaccess file already exists, add the contents of that file to the existing one.

grinning but also has a disadvantage, all the links on google are no longer valid, but better than doing anything new now

Renaming the directory to something other than arcade would not just break sites but some games are coded to reference a subfolder under arcade/gamedata for support files.  Arcade is the standard and I am guessing works for 99% of the people as is.
