Only a black screen appears, and the game never starts.

I have found when this happens, refresh the browser and the game will load

I've tried 4 or 5 times in normal screen mode - always black rectangle that I can't get past (even with refreshing).

 

But then I tried it just once in FULL SCREEN mode - it sailed through perfectly!   .   .   (I'm using PaleMoon).
